Manapad. A place that is very close to my heart and shall remain close forever. To me it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The calm water lashes against the shore and retreats silently. In the distance, small boats appear like tiny specks riding the waves. The beach is clean and silent; the absence of stalls is conspicuous. Red tiled white little houses. It is not difficult to imagine the peace that descends in the stillness of the night here.
This predominantly Roman Catholic coastal village around 70 km from Tirunelveli. I hope some day our tourism department will promote this wonderland. If you are planning to take a vacation next time to south india, visit and enjoy the beauty & tranquil that is so unique to the place.
Note: Be there on the hill in the afternoon. The colour of the sand and the sea and those little houses … AWESOME!
